My name is

Evander Mendonça

I'm a software engineer based out of South Florida, who enjoys building thoughtful, well-designed websites and applications.

About

Hello! I'm Evander. I'm a South Florida-based software engineer working primarily with JavaScript and JS-based frameworks.

I have a passion for technology and building things, both on and off the web, and I enjoy creating thoughtful, performance-focused software.

I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2020 with a bachelor of science in computer science and am returning shortly to pursue my master of science in artifical intelligence.

Here are some technologies I've been working with lately:

  • JavaScript (ES6)
  • HTML & (S)CSS
  • React
  • Python
  • Node.js
  • Next.js

Projects

Personal Website v2

Redesigned my website to look more professional, modern, and overall cleaner. I also wanted to utilize a framework to keep inline with what I currently work with and to improve performance. This was built entirely with Gatsby.js, instead of vanilla JS, CSS, and HTML.
  • Gatsby.js
  • SCSS
  • JS
  • Styled-Components

Goodreads Integration

A web app that I created to display user information from Goodreads using Next.js and the Goodreads API. I wanted to present the information in a more aestically pleasing and trimmed-down manner than what Goodreads offers. I also wanted to improve my skills with Next.js.
  • Next.js
  • SCSS
  • Goodreads API
  • XML

Personal Website v1

The first iteration of my personal site––created to give my work a digital home. At the time, I did not know much about web design or creating modern websites, so I did not use a framework. I do feel that I learned a lot about HTML, CSS, and web development overall, however. My skills since then have improved greately, including SEO and improving site performance.
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JS

Owlboard

A social media app and complaint ticketing system that I worked on for my principles of software engineering course during my sophomore year of college. This app was created to give students a way to connect with each other and report about happenings going on around campus––negative or positive. We did not use any frameworks, instead using vanilla PHP. I did learn a lot about developing software in a team, and using SCRUM and agile methods to reach project completion. I was responsible for both front-end and back-end work.
  • PHP
  • JS
  • CSS
  • SQL
